Glad to have you guys back
I think the Death of Canary at the beginning of the new season carries more weight than having it happen as a Season finale. The Emotional Resonance of this is allowed to be played out with time for it develop and be felt as it unravels the sensation of being in control that is shown throughout this first episode.
