While the announcement of John Constantine appearing in an episode of “Arrow” next season got plenty of fans excited, there were still many details about how and why he will be appearing in the series that we didn’t know.
Well today some more info about his appearance got revealed in an interview with Executive Producer Wendy Mericle over at IGN, where we learn he will be appearing in the fifth episode of Season four titled “Haunted,” and why the character is being brought into a particular story.
Here is what Wendy Mericle told IGN about John Constantine:

“It was born more out of the storyline for Sara Lance. We needed someone to come in and help bring her back. He felt like the most exciting possibility and we’re just thrilled to get him. He brings such a different element to the show.”
On whether this is the same John Constantine from the NBC series, Wendy Mericle said, “Absolutely. He is coming in fully as who he was on the show. We’re getting wardrobe. We’re very excited to have him. He’s a tremendous actor. It’s so cool to have that cross-pollination. We are very lucky and DC was very generous letting us have him.”
CW president Mark Pedowitz had referred to his appearance as a “one-shot.” When I asked Mericle if we might see him again, she replied “Right now, it really was — it’s born out of necessity for this particular story. I think Mark was right, it is a one off and this is what we’re focusing on right now.”

So as of right now it looks we’ll only be seeing Constantine in one episode of season four, but he’ll definitely be playing an important part to the overall DC TV universe if he’s going to help bring Sara back.
But if his appearance is a success and it’s a great episode, I’m sure the episode “Haunted” wont be the last we’ll see of John Constantine!
